We would like to draw your attention to this engaging evening on Iranian culture and politics, hosted by KNAW:
Encountering Iran
Iran has been the center of attention in recent months, especially after the demonstrations against the theocratic Islamic Republic, the bloodbath on January 8 and 9 that killed thousands (possibly more than 30,000), the invasion of Iran by the US and Israel on February 28, 2026, and the impact of the war on the global security and economy.
This evening is devoted to various aspects of Iranian history, art and culture, politics and economics, reflecting on current events from Iranian perspectives. How do Iranians see their country, their languages, history and culture? How does Iran treat her neighbors? What are the roots of Iran’s anti-Western sentiments? What are the influences of the Iranian diaspora on the people inside Iran and vice versa?
During this evening, we will discuss these and similar questions through a series of lectures, visual arts presentations, poetry recitation, Persian live music and a discussion with the audience. [Quoted from event page]
